Hello and welcome to another video from me Box of Demons. Todays video was a suggestion by a subscriber. David V – commented.
“I just want some more Insurgency Sandstorm gameplay, and I would really like to see some M249 gameplay, I love that gun”.
Well David, nothing would give me more pleasure than creating a video on the m249 SAW, one of my all-time favorites, a weapon I will almost always pick when different weapons are on the table. It’s iconic, it provides covering fire support, it can lead from the front and decimate most targets.
Let us jump in a little deeper and have a look at this amazing LMG and learn a little more and see how its implementation in Insurgency Sandstorm plays out. Lock n load. The FN M249 SAW (also known as the FN MINIMI®) has been a mainstay throughout the U.S. military since 1986 and is currently in service in more than 30 countries. The M249 SAW is designed to be used on the front lines where it really matters, providing crucial support at the infantry squad/fire team level by providing highly accurate fire plus the maneuverability to take the objective. The ergonomically shaped polymer buttstock contains a hydraulic buffer that allows SAW gunners to maintain a high rate of fire with accuracy and effect.
——- CALIBER: 5.56x45mm OPERATION: Open-bolt WEIGHT: 17 lb. BARREL LENGTH: 20.5” OVERALL LENGTH: 40.75” OVERALL HEIGHT: 9.5” RATE OF FIRE: 775 RPM EFFECTIVE RANGE: 800m, point target MAXIMUM RANGE: 3600m, maximum range TWIST RATE: 1:7″ RH TRIGGER PULL: 7.9 – 15.7 lb. COLOR: Matte black non-reflective finish ——– The FN Minimi / M249 SAW is an air cooled, gas operated, belt fed, automatic weapon.
The Minimi is operated using a conventional gas action with the gas piston located below the barrel. The barrel is locked using a traditional rotary bolt. It is quick-detachable, and has a carrying handle on it, to assist with the quick replacement procedure. The M249 has an alternative feed system, which allows the use of disintegrating metallic belts as a primary feed option, or M16-type box magazines as a backup feed option. The belt is fed in by the top feed unit, while the magazines are inserted through the magazine port, located at the left side of the receiver and angled down. The Flip-up dust cover closes the magazine port when it’s not in use, serving also as a belt guide.
When the magazine is in place, this cover raises up and closes the belt-way to avoid dual feeds and jams. Since the belt feed uses additional power to pull the belt through the gun, the rate of fire with the belt is somewhat slower (~ 750 rpm) than the rate of fire with magazine feed (~ 1000 rpm). The latest SPW and Mk.46mod.0 versions of the Minimi have had the magazine feed module removed as a weight-saving measure. Belts are fed from special 200 round plastic boxes that can be clipped beneath the receiver. All Minimi versions fire from an open bolt to ensure optimal barrel cooling between bursts.
The folding bipod is mounted under the gas chamber, and the gun has provisions for tripod or vehicle mountings. The open sights are standard, with the availability of a wide variety of optical and night sights for SPW and Mk.46 versions with inbuilt Picatinny rails. How to use this weapon in the game (How I use it). Suppression. As in most games where I choose the saw I play this in a supportive role. Keeping infantry heads down, with suppressed fire giving your teammates and allies the opportunity to rush forward or enter that building without getting shot or snipped from the roof. It is in all intents purposes a support weapon.
It will also saw enemies in 2 (see what i did there) in close quarters if you can manage to handle the recoil, A fore grip and possibly a red dot is the way to go. The saw and it’s bigger brother the gimpy will always remain one of my favorite weapons, its why i have one hanging proudly hanging on my wall and i love the way it purrs, growls, snarls and puts the fear of death into anybody who looks down its barrel. Thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed that lecture on the m249 SAW such an amazing weapon I could talk about it all day. But you have got enemies to the floor and I have got more video topics to think of.!! Thanks for watching and the support, appreciated.
