One of the major failures of Rising Storm 2 is that the NVA and VC are virtually identical, when in reality they were vastly different in terms of weapons and tactics. The main goal of GOM is to distinguish between the North Vietnamese Army and the different types of Viet Cong. The NVA no longer have traps or tunnels, but they have been upgunned to be able to take the West head-on, with firepower galore and the ability to spawn on Squad Leader.
The Viet Cong has been split into two different factions: Main Force VC (People’s Liberation Armed Forces of South Vietnam) and Local VC (National Liberation Front). The PLAF was the official army of the Viet Cong, armed and trained directly by the NVA. This is what the VC are in the vanilla game. The Local VC however, were a loose organization of farmers and poorly trained guerrilla fighters using whatever weapons they could scavenge or make from scratch. They do not have nearly the same amount of automatic weapons, but they make up for it by having an vastly increased amount of traps.
The MACV-SOG are back, this time with updated gear, new customization items, and a unique arsenal of US and Modified Vietnamese weaponry!
